I got up early on Saturday morning and met some Flickrites in Seattle at 6:45 AM to go on a Victoria Clipper Whale Watching Tour in the San Juans. I didn't have any high hopes of getting any good shots of whales. I figured if we saw any at all they would be way far away. I don't have as good of a telephoto lens as most of the other people in the group, just the one that came with my camera (40-150mm). The trip turned out to be way more than I bargained for. The guide said it was one of the best tours they've taken all season. I saw 3 whales jump completely out of the water however I wasn't fast enough to get any shots of those, but a few other people did. I did get some good close up shots though. Where was a pod of whales that came within a few yards of the boat. I was not expecting to get to see them up that close, it was a real treat!
Went out with my photography group last night and did a little modeling. I wasn't really planning on doing much. We had another girl that was going to be doing most of the modeling. She did some jump shots mostly, but she left early and a few people showed up late so they needed another model. I volunteered. I didn't really know what I was doing since I hadn't done this before. John did a good job directing me and telling me how to pose. He was the one with the nice lighting set up and got some good shots. Other people jumped in and took some pics too. You can see some of the other pics people took here.
My Flickr group seems to be a bunch of jumping addicts. Yeah it's silly, but it's also fun and a great work out. Saturday night a few of us met up at a park on Beacon Hill, where this was taken. I didn't happen to take this one, but I couldn't resist using it for my post cuz it's too good not to. It's kind of funny to see all the weird looks we get while we're doing this too.
After the 4 of us jumped around we went to Sculpture Park and met up with a few more people to get some sunset pics. In case you didn't know, Sculpture Park closes at 9:00 so we got kicked out and had to take pics from the trail down below the park.
And then after much indecisiveness, we ended up at the parking garage at UW to do more jumping with a flash setup, including two umbrella's. They are getting fancy.
Net jump shots will probably be at my house this Saturday which may include a trampoline. That should be interesting...
