Man my teeth are in pain today. Went to the ortho yesterday and they shaved my bottom teeth. :o Before I got braces they took two top teeth out because they were too crowded and there wasn't really room in my mouth for them. So out they came. They gave me the option of taking two out from the bottom too but I decided to pass on that. So instead they are shaving the teeth to make more room. Yes it's as bad as it sounds. It was this tiny circular saw that they stuck between 5 of my bottom teeth. A couple times he went a little too far. Ouch! Luckily I took some Ibuprofin before my appointment so it could have been a lot worse. I bled a little. So now I have a small space inbetween a bunch of my bottom teeth. I also have to wear elastics which I've been wearing for quite some time, but I have to wear them in a different place this time to move my back bottom teeth forward to close the gaps the shaving created. I think this is what is causing the most pain. I'm going to be eating soup for a couple days I think.
I got my incense making supplies today and am in the process of making some incense. It seems pretty easy to make, we'll see how it comes out. I'm starting off with some cherry vanilla sandalwood incense. It should be ready in a few days. Need to let it soak in oils for about 24 hours then dry for a few days. My next project will be lip balm! Thinking about taking a trip to Zenith in Seattle to pick up a few supplies. Maybe check out the new Sculpture Park while I'm in the area.
There's some nice people here. I've heard on the radio about people that do this but have never witnessed or been a part of it. I think more people should do it...
I went to the orthodontist this morning which is just a couple block walk from my office to replace the top chain on my braces cuz it broke, even though I have an appt on Monday. Anyway on my way back from the ortho I stopped for a coffee at Tully's. They have something new and thought I'd try it. It's called Yerba Mate Latte, which is a traditional South American vitality drink. It's actually pretty good. So I walked in as the door was closing behind someone else. They quickly apologized for not holding the door open for me. How rude. However, to make up for it, he bought my drink for me. So free latte for me woo! He was wearing shorts too which is kind of odd since it's nearly freezing temperatures outside. I didn't ask. He seemed nice. I thanked him for the free drink and went back to work.
It is snowy and cold here in Seattle. It's never snowed this much since I moved here. I have 13" of snow in my yard and it's been there for days. The trees are still snow covered. When is this stuff going to melt? It's pretty and all but I'm getting tired of the cold weather. I miss the summer time. I only went into work one day last week because of the roads being ice/snow covered. I heard it took one person 9 hours to go 13 miles last week. Its crazy. I'm glad I decided to stay home. I took a few pics of the pretty snow the other day.
It's been a while since I've posted any braces pics. Over a year in fact. So I thought I would take some tonight. I am so close to being done with these things! Should only be a couple months to go. I'm hoping to get them off in March.
Now (sporting my Christmas colored bands):
You can check out some other angles on my brace face page.
Once in a while my mom makes tamales from scratch. She makes the dough herself, covers the corn husk with it, makes her own filling using pork, beef, and this time she is trying chicken tamales, by my request, with lots of spices. She's never made chicken tamales before but I think they would be great. I'm not sure how many she is making but she usually makes a lot at one time. Probably over a hundred. She freezes em and gives some to my brother, some to me, and keeps some for herself. She made them on Sunday and said she would send me some this week. I can't wait! *drool*
I don't think some people get the idea of a theme party. I have a group of friends that are really into theme parties. They go all out, above and beyond, decorations, costumes, you name it. I went to a "Beach Theme Party" for New Years this year with a different crowd of people. I only knew two people at the party, not counting Doug. So I was expecting everyone to be wearing shorts and a tank top, the heat up to 80 degrees. Turns out, these people do not know what theme party means.
I got decked out in my wet suit and a towel around my neck. Doug wore shorts and a hawaiian shirt. I felt like I was in one of those dreams where people invite you to a costume party and you're the only one wearing a costume. There must have been 30+ people there and me, Doug, and one of the other people we knew were about the only ones dressed up in beach wear. Oh there were a couple of people wearing flip flops... along with jeans and a sweatshirt. Come on people! I did get a few nice comments on my wet suit though. :)
Got an email and a call from my neighbor on Friday:
"I wanted to let you know that part of the fence blew down in a big wind gust last night about 2:00 AM. The part of the fence is in your front yard, with the corner being between our houses. It looks like it is leaning on the hottub. I didn't get a chance to look at it this morning, but will when I get home tonight, if you haven't already seen it."
That's great! Joys of home ownership... I was gong to take a pic and post it but I forgot. Doug and I took the fence apart on Sunday morning and stacked it up in the backyard. It was pretty much toast. The wood isn't that great so I think I will just have it totally redone instead of trying to put the old fence back up. 3 4x4's broke in the ground which made it fall over in a big gust of wind. This is a 25' section of fence that was in front of my hot tub so now there is no privacy at all for hot tubbing. Not sure how soon I will be able to have it fixed. The ground is hard as a rock so getting any 4x4's in the ground might be tough though a professional might have some tools to make the job easy. I will have to start looking around for someone to do that.
