More Snow

I thought it wasn't supposed to snow in Seattle well this year has been a different story. We had another round of snow fall last week and I chose the wrong night to go watch a movie. From what the weather forecast said the snow was supposed to turn into rain but it decided not to. I went to see Pan's Labrynth in Redmond at about 4:30 on Wed. I took that day off since I was out quite late the night before at a Snow Patrol concert and didn't want to have to get up early and go to work the next day. So anyway I got out of the movie and it was sleeting like crazy. I made plans to meet Doug at MSAH for dinner. I was considering changing my plans due to the weather but as soon as I left Redmond it was just raining so I decided to go anyway.

After dinner I walked outside to find it snowing. Oh joy. I dropped Doug off and proceeded to head home the further I went the snowier it got. It was the big huge wet flakey kind of snow. It was close to the biggest snow flakes I've ever seen and it was falling hard and fast. The snow on the roads was starting to accumulate. People were going 45 then 35 then 25 then 15 in 55-60 mph zones. I saw a snow plow go by in the opposite direction. It didn't look like any snow plow had made it by in my direction. I was low on gas so I stopped in Monroe to gas up and went on my way. 8 more miles to home and everyone was crawling along. 2 miles past Monroe and I started sliding to the right and kept sliding and ended up sliding right into the ditch. It was not a big ditch. I would have been able to drive right out of it had there not been snow on the ground. Great, so I called AAA and they were unable to help me because all of their companies were on emergency only and could only respond to blocking accidents and injury accidents so I was stuck there for a while. They gave me the number for the local police station so I called them and they said they'd call a trooper and mentioned it could be a while. Finally a patrol car stopped by. I don't think he was called, I think he just saw me sitting there and decided to stop to see if I needed help. He called a tow truck and about 45 mins or so later one showed up and was able to tow me out. $170 for 15 mins of work. Luckily AAA says they will re-imburse me for it. AAA sure came in handy this time. I'm glad I was able to use it, it just paid for itself right there.

While I was sitting in the ditch a snow plow went by so the roads were a little better than before. I made it back to Sultan fine. However the roads off the hwy in Sultan were not pretty. No snow plow came through there obviously. I ran every stop sign I came across because I was afraid I either wouldn't be able to stop or if I did stop I wouldn't be able to get going again. There were several inches of snow on the ground and no cars in sight. I ran about 4 stop signs on my way to my house. There's a small hill going up to my house and I was planning on not even attempting it but I couldn't find a place to park. I could barely tell where the road was with all the snow so I decided to give it a try. Well I didn't make it... I ended up abandoning my car for the night and walking the rest of the way home. By then it was about 11:00 and I was ready for bed. I'm just glad I made it that far without getting stuck again. I was able to drive it back up the hill the next day, which I decided to work from home.

I'm tired of snow, I want spring to get here!

Here's a couple of pics I took the following morning:
