Flickrfied

Last night I decided to start a Flickr account. I can put my pics on my webserver so why should I get a Flickr account you ask? Hmm good question, I don't really have a good answer to that question. Everyone else is doing it so why not? I will still post pics on my web server. I will just post a couple on flickr every now and then, just my favorite ones. I posted up a couple that I took over the past Thanksgiving weekend. Had dinner with about 25 people at a friends place which is where the hula hooping pic is from and Doug and I went to the Harbor Steps in Seattle and walked around and took some pics. New Toy

I bought myself a Christmas present today and it's already been shipped. I ordered a new digital camera today. It'll be my first SLR type camera. In case you don't know that's the kind of camera that you buy various lenses for it. You can buy just the body and buy the lenses separate or you can buy a package that comes with lenses. I got the two lense package. Doug recently bought one and it's pretty sweet so I decided I have to have one too. I got the Olympus E-500 My old camera is also an Olympus which I love. I am still going to keep it for my underwater diving pics and will probably take it to Burningman again this year. The underwater housing I have for it works pretty well in the dust storms.

The day of bad news

Though none of this news is really directly related to me but I have heard a lot of bad news in other peoples lives that I know today. 3 to be exact.

1) vanpool driver's mom fell out of bed and is in the hospital
2) my ex-director from work's mom died in a car accident
3) some huge family emergency happened with my hair stylist which has caused me to have to cancel my hair appt for the 2nd time. From the msg I received it sounded like she was not coming back to work but I have yet to get a hold of these people to find out what is going on.

more candle scents

I'm on a blog posting roll now I just can't stop!

I've got sooo many scents now that I have really got to get on the ball and make bunches of candles. Everyone is getting candles for Christmas this year. I realized I didn't have any yellow dye. I have some lemon scent and you can't make lemon candles without yellow dye so... I decided to go online and get some. Well just to buy some yellow dye from my favorite dye selling place had the shipping cost more than the dye so I had to bye some more stuff to make the shipping worth it so what did I do? Bought more scents. Here are my new ones: Pumpkin Thyme, Sandalwood Amber, Cinnamon Spice, Vanilla, Rosemary, Fresh Raspberry (have used this one before and loved it), Cinnamon Bayberry (might be my favorite new scent)

Spritz Cookies

It is amazing to me how many people don't know what a spritz cookie is. My mom used to make these all the time when I was growing up and we used to have fun helping too. Doug and I went to a dance on Saturday night and people always bring stuff to munch on. I came up with the idea to make some spritz cookies. I have a cookie press that I think I got at a garage sale many many years ago and have only used maybe twice since I've owned it. So I got it out and dusted it off and cookies we made. We made a mess and had some fun doing it too. I brought some to work and have been munching on them this morning. A couple people at work asked me what a spritz cookie was. What's wrong with these people? Are they also called something else that people would know them by?

Work Responsibilities

I found out yesterday that I would be taking over the Southeast Region engineering from one of the guys that got laid off. I'm so not looking forward to this. Not just because it means more work to the great amount of work I already have but because this guy is so unorganized and doesn't follow processes that I'm going to probably have to spend months cleaning up this engineering so I can work with it. Also it means more conference calls. In fact I just got sent one this morning a few mins after the mtg started. I talked to this guy yesterday to go over stuff and he didn't mention anything about any other conf calls other than the weekly region one which I could handle but I don't know how many other calls I'm going to have to start getting on now. I just really do not want to. He was actually going to give this region to one of our new contractors but he said it would look better if a Full Time Employee had the region rather than a contractor and I was the only FTE in my group that didn't have a region so here I am. His last day is supposed to be some time beginning of December so I'm starting to take over some of his stuff. I will get some help from the contractor but I'll be the primary engineer. Ugh I need a new job.
